Awards and Scholarships

Thanks to the generous support of various foundations and sponsors, the DGG e.V. also awards a number of prizes and scholarships.

Interested parties should send their applications to the DGG office by 30 June 2026

The submitted works will be evaluated by the members of the prize committee using a standardised assessment process.

Overview

Aortic Award

This prize, worth €4,000 (donated by Medtronic), is for a planned or completed clinical or basic research project on acute or chronic diseases of the aorta.

This prize, worth €4,000, is sponsored by W.L. GORE and is awarded for a completed scientific thesis.

Jörg Vollmar Award

Since 2010, the Jörg Vollmar Foundation has awarded the Jörg Vollmar Prize, worth €5,000, annually in memory of Prof. Jörg Friedrich Vollmar (1923–2008). The prize is intended for young scientists.

Julius Springer Award

The scientific editorial board of Gefäßchirurgie – Zeitschrift für vaskuläre und endovaskuläre Medizin (Vascular Surgery – Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Medicine) works with Springer-Verlag to support scientific research in this field and, in particular, to promote young talent by awarding the Julius Springer Prize for Vascular Medicine.

This scholarship worth €3,000 (donated by C.R. Bard) is aimed at young vascular surgeons up to the age of 40.

As every year, we would like to attract medical students who are interested in and keen to learn more about vascular surgery as a specialism and possible future career path to our MaGiC scholarship programme.

The German Society for Vascular Surgery and Vascular Medicine (DGG) awards the René van Dongen Travel Grant every year. The grant is worth €4,000 and is awarded at the annual conference.
