CEO Dr Livia Cotta

Dr Livia Cotta, MBA, LL.M., is the managing director of the German Society for Vascular Surgery and Vascular Medicine. She is a doctor with only brief clinical experience, but proven expertise in the management of profit and non-profit organisations. Most recently, she was managing director of the Heinrich Böll Foundation and responsible for all administrative matters. Prior to that, she was Medical Director at the German Bone Marrow Donor Registry. In addition to medical matters, she was also responsible for administration. Her responsibilities at both organisations included cooperation with committees and consultants, as well as collaboration with bodies, volunteers, service providers and partner companies, and budget and cost negotiations – in short, all aspects of management. She gained experience in public relations and marketing as Head of Communications at a Swiss medical technology company. Media and educational work were also at the centre of her work at Georg Thieme Verlag, where she held various positions in editorial and event management.
