Certification of Vascular Centres

In many areas of medicine, there are disease-oriented interdisciplinary centres of excellence (trauma centres, oncology centres, vascular centres, etc.). Since 2003, clinics have also been able to obtain certification as vascular centres. The motives for establishing these centres are:

The German Society for Vascular Surgery and Vascular Medicine (DGG) offers certification as a vascular centre in cooperation with the Private Academy for Vascular Surgery and Vascular Medicine gGmbH – if necessary, on an interdisciplinary basis with the German Radiological Society and/or the German Society for Angiology as a 2- or 3-centre certification.

In order to demonstrate the quality associated with the "Certified Vascular Centre" certificate, it is necessary to meet personnel, equipment and therapeutic standards. These minimum requirements for centres to be certified can be found on the website of the Private Academy DGG. There you will also find the statutes for the certification of vascular centres with the report on the evidence base for the development of the criteria catalogue for the "Certified Vascular Centre" certificate.
