MaGiC campaign: Programme to promote young talent in vascular surgery
The aim of the MAGiC campaign is to inspire medical students to pursue vascular surgery and vascular medicine as a future-oriented, innovative field with career opportunities. To this end, a congress programme developed specifically for MAGiC scholarship holders is offered at the DGG's annual conference, which is designed to give MAGiC participants a deeper insight into the field. This year, a MaGiC programme was once again designed for the 40th annual conference in Karlsruhe. In addition to the special programme, scholarship holders receive a travel grant of EUR 225.00, free admission to the conference and three nights' hotel accommodation.
Two students from each institution can take part in the campaign. You can set the selection criteria within your faculty or student council, but students should have completed at least their second clinical semester.
Please enclose a letter of recommendation from the head of the vascular surgery department with your application and send your written application by 30 June 2026 to:

Campaign: "Gefäßchirurgie macht Schule" (vascular surgery goes to school)
For secondary school pupils in the career orientation phase, the "Vascular Surgery Goes to School" campaign offers assistance with work experience placements in vascular surgery.
The download package for students contains information about vascular surgery as an attractive and future-oriented field, as well as general job descriptions, training duration, everyday work and working conditions, and the job market situation. In addition, the package offers concrete assistance with work placements in terms of the necessary documents, procedures and legal aspects.
The download package for doctors/departments contains information about work experience placements in upper secondary school, the legal situation and aspects to be considered when students undertake work experience placements in ongoing hospital operations, as well as all the necessary documents. It also includes a template for an internship certificate and suggestions for structuring the internship. In the members' area (login for DGG members), a PowerPoint template on the subject of vascular surgery is available for career information events at schools.
